Critical Reflection Questions

How do the elements of your production work together to create a sense of branding? In addition to the production of the short film, our goal was to create a film package. As a group we were instructed to create a postcard, website, film, and open multiple social media accounts. The purpose of the film package is to market the film to a variety of audiences. The addition of the postcard, website, and social media will allow us to expand our audience. Social media has been the largest and probably most important part of our branding. As filmmakers we needed to analyze our intended audience and how to best reach them.  Teenagers and social media have a very close interaction in  everyday life. Using Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter can provide a quick and free ways to reach a large group of teenagers. We posted updates about filming and production on these sites and then linked them to our website for easy access. The ability to easily link back and forth between the social media accou

3rd day of filming

Image
On Thursday January 7th, we had our third day of filming. After attendance in 2nd period we headed to the local grocery store. Originally we planned to go to Publix. I talked to my mom and she mentioned that Publix may be too busy. Around the corner from my house there is a food service store. It looks just like a normal grocery store except the products are in bulk so less people shop there. At around 9:30 in the morning we all arrived. The first shot was of Blake pulling into a parking spot. We made sure to included the GFS sign to give the viewer clues to the setting. After filming outside, we headed inside to begin shooting the actual grocery scenes. The aisle where the water was located was in the back of the store and empty so that was the best place to start. We did have a little trouble with the audio in the scene. Because we were wearing masks we need to talk much louder than normal so the audience could hear the lines. After finishing that scene, we moved to the toilet paper

Film Postcard

We have been working very hard to complete our film on time the past couple of weeks. Despite this, we are a little behind. To help speed up the process I decided to create the film postcard. My younger brother had previously had acess to Canva. This site is used to create flyers and postcards. I had used the site via his account in the past to create other posters for events. Ms. M also recommened that this was a good site to use. Instead of using my brothers account I started a new account using my gmail. It was very simple and most importantly free. Once setting up the account I went back and reviewd the guidlines for the card. The colors of our logo are black, blue, and red. I thought it would be best to stick to that colo scheme. I choose a postcard with a black backround.  I then emailed the logo from my phone to my computer. I then downloaed the photo and insterted it onto the front page. The color blue used on the logo was not on the site so I made the words white and red. On

Footage

Today is the last day of the year and we are going to begin post production. In the previous blogs I described how both days of filming went. During day one of filming we got about 10 minutes of filming. On the second day we got about 5 minutes of filming. The film will only be 5 minutes long so most of that footage will be cut. Blake is very tech savvy so he helped a lot with the dumping of the footage. The first step for the footage was going from the different cameras all onto one laptop. When using the GoPro and the drone we had to transfer it differently than the iPhone. The first step was removing the SD card. Then you place the SD card in the reader and plug it into the USB port of the computer. After that we opened the DCIM founder that contained all the footage. We labeled each individual scene and put them onto a desktop folder. For the footage on the iPhone, we used airdrop. We airdropped the footage to Blake and then Blake airdropped to his computer. This process took aroun

Issues during 2nd day of filming

Image
After the first day of filming we addressed some issues that we ran into. We thought it was going to run much more smoothly the 2nd day. To our surprise we ran into a few new issues. On the first day of filming. All of our actors had outfits that they were wearing. On the second day of filming one of my groupmates forgot to wear the exact same outfit. Luckily I had something in my closet that was close enough for us to use. In the blog where I spoke about adjustments the first time, I mentioned needing additional people to help film. This time we did have a tripod but also extra people. My mom, dad, and two brothers were all home during the 2 hours of filming. Even though it was good in case we needed help, it was also a negative. Multiple time I had to stop what I was doing and ask them to be quiet. This added to filming time because we continued to stop and tell them. Another issue was making sure that the film would flow by making sure that we were in the same positions. Once or tw

Second day of filming

On Tuesday December 29th we had our second day of filming. Before my group mates had arrived I went over the script. I thought it would be best to get ahead and just run through my lines. I also thought it was a good idea to see what scenes we would be able to film. We only had about 2 hours today. I had an appointment till 2 and Tess had work at 4:30. We planned for 2-4. After everyone arrived I discussed with them what I thought about the scenes we should do. Everyone agreed that they were good and we could get them done. The first thing we filmed was me asking Ryan to turn on the TV just before they announce the vaccine. It only took us 2 takes to get it because it was only one line. Next we filmed us walking into the house. We started by setting up the phone inside my front door and pressing play. We walked back outside and practiced what we were going to do. Blake was going to open the door and we would all walk through. Then we would say the lines and Chloe would walk off like s
