Film Preperation

After starting the marketing campaign, we have begun planning to film. We want our film to be as professional as possible, so we are working hard to plan out every detail. The most important thing needed for a good film is a good camera. We will be using 3 or 4 different cameras. For different parts of the film we are going to use a different one to capture specific angles. We have a Gopro, a drone, an iPhone 11 camera, and a canon camcorder. We will use the drone for the arial shots and the gopro for the establishing shots because of the quality. For the rest of the shots and movements we will use the camcorder, or I phone.  Over the break I tested out the Gopro which I own as well as the camcorder. In addition to insuring that the technology is working, we need to make sure that every character has a costume and the props needed. Because the holiday season is approaching, we needed to order our props in a timely manor so that they would arrive on time. Amazon was our best bet when ordering because we did not risk getting COVID-19 by going shopping and they have the fastest delivery time. For the COVID-19 vaccine scene we ordered a white lab coat, stethoscope and clear face shield. In addition, we ordered some sunglasses and extra masks. Safety is our priority, so the masks are essential. The estimated arrival time is Friday of next week. The final step in preparation is going to be planning for the music. We must ask the writer for permission to use their song in our film. Because this takes time and not every writer gets back quickly, we are trying to choose the music as soon as possible. We have not been able to come up with a conclusive decision on what songs, but we know for sure that we will at least need one happy and upbeat song for the car ride to the vacation house.

Improvements made on 1st day

 Although we did complete a lot on our first day of filming, we did run into a couple of issues. We knew that everything was not going to run perfectly smooth on our first day so we weren’t shocked when they appeared. One of the first issues we ran into was holiday decorations. My group mate Chloe doesn’t have decorations in her house for the holidays so when we originally planned to film we didn’t have to worry about decorations. My parents on the other hand decorate the entire house with Christmas decorations. When we found out we needed to switch locations, my mom said that it was unreasonable to take everything down and then put it back up. We spent about 30 minutes picking up little things that made the house look less like a VRBO. I talked to my group mates and mentioned maybe switching the time of year to winter break. Decision on Filming

We have started our marketing campaign and figured out the music and technology needed to produce the film. Everything is continuing to improve when it comes to the professionalism of the sites. In addition, we have 14 followers on Instagram which is a lot considering that we have not posted anything yet. The other 3 social media sites are also growing. The props are still on track to arrive by the end of this week. Our script is revised and edited. Also, all our cast remains safe and Covid-19 free. Now that the preparation is moving along, the next step is to begin our first round of filming.  Because of COVID-19 and vacation days from school, it was challenging to build a filming schedule. This was even more difficult because there are 4 people in our group. Even though we had challenges, our schedule was built and finalized a couple of weeks ago.
