Improvements made on 1st day

Although we did complete a lot on our first day of filming, we did run into a couple of issues. We knew that everything was not going to run perfectly smooth on our first day so we weren’t shocked when they appeared. One of the first issues we ran into was holiday decorations. My group mate Chloe doesn’t have decorations in her house for the holidays so when we originally planned to film we didn’t have to worry about decorations. My parents on the other hand decorate the entire house with Christmas decorations. When we found out we needed to switch locations, my mom said that it was unreasonable to take everything down and then put it back up. We spent about 30 minutes picking up little things that made the house look less like a VRBO. I talked to my group mates and mentioned maybe switching the time of year to winter break. Winter break is still a time when lots of college age kids come home so it still fits in our plot. They agreed so now the group of friends is visiting during winter break. We also had lights and wreaths outside so I told my group that I would film the outside of my house after Christmas when the decorations came down. The second issue we ran into was not having people or the right equipment to film. In a few shots we all needed to be in view. Unfortunately we didn’t have a tripod. For the scene in the car we maneuvered a way to place it on the dash. For the scenes outside we could not set something up so we needed help from an outside person. My parents weren’t home at the time so we politely asked my brother. In this instance we were able to solve the problem pretty quickly. If this happens next time there is a chance that we wont be so lucky with having one of my family members there. The first day was definitely a learning experience. We all feel much more prepared and hope that the next day of filming will go a little bit smoother.
