Welcome Back Blog

Hello, my name is Hillery Brinkworth and I am a 12th grader. I have switched over my blogging from word press and will now be using blogger full time. After a little break, I am back and very excited to be taking A level media studies. Although different than AS level, the continued curriculum of film and the power of media is very interesting to me. I decided to take this class because of how much I enjoyed the topics and how much useful information I learned about film in AS level.  I am really hoping to pass with a C or higher this year. A level is much more rigorous that AS level which makes me a little nervous.  I know that with the help of my teachers I will succeed in this course.  In addition to my nervousness about the course work, the unknowns created by the current pandemic could possibly pose some problems during the year. Not being face to face with my teacher as well as not being able to use school equipment will be challenging. We do not have access to the cameras or to the school laptops so we must work around this. I am really looking forward to beginning to plan out my final task film once I solidify my group. Working in a group will be good because we can bounce ideas off each other and learn from one another. The only problem with working in groups is the COVID situation. We will have to adjust to the fact that some parents might not allow their children to work face to face with others because they are concerned with getting sick. This is a very real fear and completely understandable, but it may pose challenges when it comes to filming the final project. I am most excited about creating the post cards and social media pages for our film. After seeing some examples of postcards, I think that we can really be creative with what we put out. This project will take a lot of time and planning, but it will be worth it in the end. I cannot wait to see how my final project turns out.
